Graduate assistantships are available for students pursuing M.S. degree with regular admission. Students with good undergraduate records are encouraged to apply at the time they request admission. Requests for application forms and other information may be addressed to the director of Graduate Admissions. Telephone inquiries may be made by calling (601) 266-4896. E-Mail inquiries can also be made to the School of Construction Director ( Desmond.Fletcher@usm.edu).
Students seeking an assistantship must submit a written request to the School director. The School of Construction awards a limited number of assistantships each year. Students can receive up to a full waiver of all fees and tuition, including out-of-state tuition.
Students on assistantship must register for at least 12 hours of coursework every semester, follow all school and university policies and procedures, and make satisfactory progress toward completion of degree requirements. Failure to do so could result in the revocation or non-renewal of an assistantship.
Assistantships are awarded for a stipulated time, generally the academic year. Students may reapply for an award yearly. Renewal of assistantships will depend upon student performance of required duties, progress toward completion of degree, and availability of funds.
